Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles are innovative tools, releasing thermal or mechanical energy in response to magnetic field exposure, to induce the death of cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). They also trigger events leading to the activation of an anti-tumor immune response by macrophages and natural killer (NK) activation.
