New metabolic pathway and tumor development

We are exploring a new metabolic branch generating oncosterone on the one hand and dendrogenins on the other. We study the enzymes that produce these molecules and the links that exist between this metabolic branch and carcinogenesis. We are developing chemical tools and analytical methods to measure these new metabolites in biological tissues. We define the biological properties of these new sterols in vitro and in vivo in relation to cancers. Our objective is to characterize the metabolic deregulation of this series of sterols in cancers in order to identify new markers and ultimately improve the personalization of anticancer treatments.
