Team 11: (E. Moyal, C. Toulas): to decipher glioblastoma radioresistance mechanisms leading to clinical trials developed by the PI in IUCO radiotherapy department
This translational research team in radiobiology, specialized in optimizing the radiotherapy treatment of glioblastoma (GBM), is developing 3 complementary approaches i) first by deciphering the biological mechanisms of tumor radioresistance ii) by performing preclinical trials to validate targets for conceiving new radiosensitizer agents and to identify new predictive markers and iii) by designing and performing early phase clinical trials associating targeted drugs directed against the target identified in the lab with radiotherapy and integrating surrogate biomarkers as well as metabolic imaging studies. We focus our research on GBM stem cells (GSC) involvements in GBM radioresistance, by investigating radiation-induced GBM cell plasticity and GSC migration as well as hypoxia regulation and intracellular pathways of GSC radioresistance. Several preclinical and clinical trials designed from our results are under current.
